The University of Concepción and its Symphony Orchestra present “Unforgettable Boleros” with the Chilean ensemble “La Flor del Recuerdo” (“A Flower to Remember”) in a free concert to take place on Thursday 18 January at 21:30 in the UdeC Forum, as a part of the UdeC Summer School 2018, Visual Arts: Display & Encounter

Both ensambles will take us into a journey through favorite songs that have become icons of this genre that was born in Cuba in the 19th century and gained popularity since the 1930s in the whole continent.

La Flor del Recuerdo is a Chilean group including Pablo Moraga (1st voice and maracas), Cristóbal González (2th voice and requinto guitar); Ricardo Aguilera (3rd voice and guitar), and Cristian Gutiérrez (percussion), plus Jorge Tapia as guest double-bassist. Founded in 2012 and influenced by ensembles like Los Panchos, Los Tres Ases and Los Tres Caballeros, this group cultivates the bolero in an acoustic format, displaying a painstaking attention to the arrangements, performance and voices, which evoke the good ol’ days.

This concert will be conducted by the Concepción Symphony’s Resident Conductor, Chilean maestro Pablo Carrasco, and will include such well-known songs as Historia de un amor, La puerta, Contigo aprendí, Se te olvida, La barca, Inolvidable, La hiedra, Para que no me olvides, Vanidad and Contigo en la distancia, among many others, in music arrangements by Rodrigo Tapia, Cristóbal González and Pablo Carrasco.

“Unforgettable Boleros” will also be performed on Wednesday 17 January at 20:00 in Chillán’s Municipal Theater (tickets can be picked-up at the box office.
