The outstanding Latvian musician based in Chile, Armands Abols, gave a free masterclass to about 25 students on Tuesday 13 June at the Auditorium of the Facultad de Humanidades y Arte UdeC.

Maestro Abols worked actively with five intermediate and advanced students, who performed pieces by Chopin, Mozart and Moszkowski. The maestro worked with them individually, sharing his knowledge about performance techniques, the control of hands, and repetition exercises under the watchful eye of the audience.

This is the third masterclass organized by the University of Concepción Cultural Corporation, following the successful masterclass of clarinet and the double masterclass of violin and cello that took place in April and May and gathered more than 100 music students plus general audience. At least two more masterclasses are scheduled for the next months—dates will be confirmed and announced in due course.

Armands Abols is visiting Concepción as the soloist in the 4th Concert of the Concepción Symphony’s 2017 Season (Saturday 17 June at 19:00 in the UdeC Theater).
