Diverse activities that will take place in the University of Concepción were announced in a meeting held at the Pinacoteca (UdeC art gallery).

On the occasion, the Director of Cultural Outreach, María Soledad González, with Edson Faúndez, Director of Sello Editorial (UdeC publisher), and Lilian Quezada, Manager of the UdeC Cultural Corporation, introduced the calendar of the events that will take place during the year in the University as well as in the UdeC Theater and other venues.

María Soledad González announced four art exhibition series to take place from April to July – one at David Stitchkin Hall, located in front of the Independence Square; another at the Pinacoteca; a third at the UdeC Theater foyer (already started), and a fourth as an itinerant series in Puerto Varas and Valdivia.

Furthermore, the Miradoc documentary screening series will take place once again in the UdeC Auditorium, as well as an Italian cinema series and book presentations, and the traditional scientifc cafés, which this year will be held at the David Stitchkin Hall.

Edson Faúndez, from Sello Editorial UdeC, announced the participation of the University of Concepción in Puerto Montt’s 2nd Book Fair, the publication of the book of the Second Contest of Academic Books, and the Call for the Atenea Award to the Best Scientific Book, among other activities.

Regarding the Corcudec activities, Lilian Quezada announced the orchestra’s Chamber Music Season to be held on Thursdays at 18:00, with free admission; furthermore, the ‘Lectures to Discover Music’ series will return, with participation of the conductors and soloists that will perform during the 2016 Season with the Concepción Symphony Orchestra. The lectures will take place at the general rehearsals of symphony concerts. Additionally, the Cinema Mondays series will continue, and its screenings at 15:00 will be held collaboratively by Corcudec and the Directorate of Cultural Outreach.

Finally, among the actitivites for the 97th Anniversary of the University of Concepción, two free concerts by the UdeC Choir were announced (May 5, 19:00, UdeC Theater, and May 31, 19:00, UdeC Auditorium) plus the traditional concerts the Symphony Orchestra offers in May, the Arts Education Week which will take place on May 23-27, and the “Reappraisal of the Cross-Stone heritage through goldsmithing” project, on May 24-29.
