2 & 4 August 2018

In order to bring the lyric singing to the wider community, the University of Concepción Cultural Corporation and the UdeC Choir will offer two free concerts in Concepción, on Thursday 2 August at 19:45 in Parroquia del Sagrario (O’Higgins 545), and on Saturday 4 August at 18:30 in the Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días (Gleisner 1676, barrio La Virgen).

On this occasion, the choral ensemble will perform Alleluia by USA composer Randall Thompson; Trösterin Musik by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner; Mass in G by Liechtenstein-native Joseph Rheinberger, and three canzonettas by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini (I Gondolieri, La Passeggiata and Il Carnevale di Venezia).

The Choir will be joined by piano accompanist and Concepción Symphony musician Verónica Torres. They will be conducted by maestro Carlos Traverso, who is the Choir’s Director since 2008. He is in charge of the preparation of the choral works for the Opera, Symphony and Chamber seasons produced by Corcudec, as well as the Choir’s outreach programs. He also provides the choristers with vocal preparation.

Finally, the Choir will hold a third performance—free and with the same repertoire—on Saturday 1 September at 18:30 in the Centro Cultural, Tomé.
