The Concepción Symphony Orchestra will perform “Aires de Brasil”, a tribute to that country’s popular music, on Saturday 22 July at 19:00 in the UdeC Theater.

This concert will bring together for the first time in Concepción the outstanding singer Danilo Caymmi, composer and arranger Marinho Boffa, and the Concepción Symphony as well as some guest artists, who will perform favorite Brazilian songs from genres like bossa nova, samba and chorinho, in a symphonic format, including Abertura Brasileira nº1, Wave, Rio, Marina, O Bem e o Mal, Samba do Avião, Nem Eu, Medley Vatapá (música de Bahía), Eu Sei que vou Te Amar, Manhã de Carnaval, Retirantes, Andança and Chega de Saudade, from composers such as Dorival Caymmi, Luis Bonfá, Tom Jobim and Roberto Menescal.

In this program, the Concepción Symphony will perform with singer, composer and arranger Danilo Caymmi, who has participated in discs by Gonzaguinha, Simone, Milton Nascimento, Club de la Esquina and Chico Buarque, among others. Caymmi is the author of soundtracks for soap operas and miniseries and is world-famous as a member of Banda Nueva, the ensemble of Tom Jobim—composer of “Chica de Ipanema” and the greatest exponent of Brazilian popular music.

The music arrangements are by Marinho Boffa, a Brazilian pianist who lived in Chile and has played with the greatest artists in his native country in recordings, festivals and concerts. Boffa will share the stage with guests musicians Marcelo Martins (saxophone), Alejandro Espinosa (drums), Sidney Silva (percussion) and Esteban Fonseca (bass). All of them will be conducted by the Israeli maestro Doron Salomon, whose contribution to the musical art in Israel was acknowledged with the Landau Prize 2011, annually awarded to outstanding personalities from the arts and sciences.

Box office is open on Mondays from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 15:15 to 21:30; Tuesdays to Fridays from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 15:15 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 15:15 to 17:00. In case of a concert, theater play or other activity, the box office will remain open until the event starts.
