“Julieta y Romeo”, a theater play by La Otra Zapatilla company and the Colectivo de Danza Escénica en Movimiento (winner of the Regional Fund for the Arts 2017 granted by the National Council of Culture and the Arts) will be premiered on Tuesday 17 October at 20:00 in the UdeC Theater, thanks to the cooperation of the University of Concepción Cultural Corporation, CORCUDEC.
It’s a multidisciplinary work that, unlike William Shakesperare’s original, tells the story of gender swapping between the characters, with the feminine roles adopting the masculine discourse and vice versa. The play will show how this affects the actions and essence of men and women, with the thought that prevails at a social and cultural level causing a dissonant note which evidences prejudice and, perhaps, the machoism that dominates our society.
