Resident Conductor

Pablo Carrasco Villablanca

Bachelor in Arts with a major in Music Theory, he graduated in Choral Conducting with maestro Guido Minoletti at the University of Chile and earned a Diploma and a Master degree in Orchestral Conducting with maestro David del Pino Klinge at the same university.

He has been invited to guest conduct the University of Santiago Classical Orchestra, University of La Serena Symphony Orchestra, Chilean Chamber Orchestra, Faculty of Arts Orchestra at University of Chile, and UC Chamber Orchestra. He was also invited to serve as Assistant Conductor with the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Peruvian National Symphony Orchestra. Among his recent engagements, he conducted Mozart’s Réquiem in a Holy Week concert with the Chilean Chamber Orchestra and the Ensamble Libre Choir, and the outreach concert of the University of Santiago Classical Orchestra at the Pedro Aguirre Cerda Theater.

He has also worked extensively with diverse youth orchestras in Santiago and Rancagua. He has also been music director of three FOJI regional orchestras (Tarapacá, O’Higgins and Araucanía) and has offered training in the Aysén region as part of a program from the former Council for Culture and the Arts.

He has premiered numerous works, mostly by Chilean composers. His enthusiasm for this task led him to create, with several partners, the Editorial Nacional, a music publishing house aimed at promoting new works.

He gave his first steps as a conductor while working with numerous choirs, such as the University Choir from Santiago, UNAB Choir and the Teatro del Lago Choir. In April 2012 he was selected for the master classes given by the renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling (Germany) at Teatro del Lago (Frutillar), and then Rilling himself awarded him a scholarship to participate in the Oregon Bach Festival. In 2015 he was invited by the Bachakademie Stuttgart to participate in a Bach cantatas tour in Germany and Italy.
