The University of Concepción Cultural Corporation and its Symphony Orchestra will participate in the UdeC Summer School 2018 with a free concert to take place on Friday 5 January at 21:30 in the UdeC Forum.
On this occasion, the orchestra will be conducted by Chilean maestro Rodolfo Fischer in a program starting with “Danse macabre” by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns.
Then, and in line with the theme of this Summer School, Visual Arts: Display & Encounter, the Orchestra will perform Pictures at an Exhibition by the Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. This well-known suite of music pieces is inspired on 10 paintings and drawings from a big posthumous exhibition of the artist and architect Víktor Hartmann, who passed away in 1873. This music work has been performed in many different versions and styles–the most popular of them created by the British progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer in 1971.
Finally, the orchestra will perform the famous “Bolero” by French composer Maurice Ravel.
