Around a thousand people came to the UdeC Theater to enjoy the Second Concert of the Concepción Symphony Orchestra’s 2016 season, which took place on Saturday, April 16.

The Orchestra performed a selection of Hungarian Dances by German composer Johannes Brahms, with their seductive gypsy melodies. Then it came the time of a Chilean classical guitar celebration with the local premiere of an attractive work by Javier Farías. His Concerto for Two Guitars made clear why this composer and the duet of guitarists Romilio Orellana and Luis Orlandini have earned so much international acclaim. For its part, the apt conducting of Vicente Larrañaga nuanced with a very flexible tempo Mendelssohn’s deeply felt tribute to the Protestant Reformation in his Symphony n° 5.
